Elder Law deals with legal issues affecting older, disabled, or dependent adults who face forms of elder abuse. These may include issues concerning health care, violence, estate planning, guardianship, social security, abuse, neglect, etc…
What is elder abuse?
Elder Abuse is the neglect, exploitation or “painful or harmful” mistreatment of anyone 65 years old or older, or anyone aged 18 to 64 who falls under the legal definition of a “dependent” adult. Elder Abuse can involve physical violence, psychological abuse, isolation, abandonment, abduction, false imprisonment, or a caregiver’s neglect. It can also involve the unlawful taking of a senior’s money or property.
Elder abuse involves various crimes that strike victims of all ages. These crimes include theft, assault, identity theft, etc… However, when the victim is 65 years old or older (or a dependent adult), the criminal could face stiffer penalties. You may get in touch with us:
